DC 5 Players Parlay $.50 Wagers Into $270,000 Windfall
WASHINGTON, D.C.—DC Lottery players won big with February’s DC 5 Straight Bet Bonus promotion. Nine winning tickets, valued at $30,000 each, delivered $270,000 in shared cash prizes for winners.
The month-long promotion offered DC 5 players the chance to win increased top prizes. Traditionally, a $.50 straight bet wins $25,000; for $1, you get two plays and the chance to double your prize to $50,000. During the DC 5 Straight Bet Bonus promotion, these wins increased to $30,000 and $60,000, respectively.
A DC 5 “straight bet” requires players to select five numbers from 0 to 9 and match them in the exact order to the winning numbers that are drawn.
Local man Channa U. won $60,000 by doubling his $.50 wager to $1. The new dad's combination of winning numbers was chosen by his wife, who accompanied him to claim his prize. Together, they celebrated his big win and their eighth wedding anniversary! The retail worker said the welcomed windfall was a great start towards savings for their young daughter.
